France Arrests 5 in Kidnapping Case of Crypto Tycoon’s Father

French authorities have apprehended five individuals—four adults and one minor—in connection with the abduction of a prominent cryptocurrency entrepreneur's father. The victim, whose son is a Dubai-based crypto influencer, was targeted in a violent home invasion near the Swiss border on December 31, 2024. Armed assailants demanded ransom in cryptocurrency before forcibly taking the man, who was later discovered beaten and doused in petrol 435 miles away.

The arrested suspects include three adults with prior convictions for violent crimes, signaling a troubling pattern of crypto-related kidnappings in France.
